This position will provide onsite support to our client at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City, OK.
Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Mechanical Designer, we'll count on you to:
- Provide building mechanical planning and designs for work in the building/facilities field including substantial muti-phase new construction, renovation, and improvement projects for a variety of real property facilities in a multiple-campus area, including heavy industrial campus, light commercial/community service campus, dormitory campus, warehouse campus, and administrative campus.
- Responsible for mechanical document production including Statement of Work, Design Analysis, Drawings, Specifications and cost estimates.
- Assist Architects and Engineers with planning, project evaluations and design of building mechanical projects in an industrial/heavy commercial environment
- Assist Project Managers with the following actions:
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Accomplish coordination/answered comments through other engineering and Air Force functions, including environmental, safety, contracting, and appropriate managers/agencies
- Prepare bid packages, evaluate bids and address contractor questions during bidding process, and
- Update NextGen database with programming/design data as required
- Reviews engineering plans and specifications for compliance with federal and state regulations and ensures that design formats comply with applicable guidance
- Furnishes sketches and layouts supplemented by verbal or written information for preparation of drawings
- Prepares modification/alteration design specifications considering existing structures, utilities, facilities, and other considerations of projects that are not readily apparent
- Applies a practical knowledge of engineering methods, techniques, architecture, and historical project data to ensure project requirements are complete
- Supports project managers for development of design details
- Promote sustainable design and development principles (LEED) in professional activities
- Perform other duties as needed
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- General background-related experience
- Be willing to submit to a background check
- Knowledge of design and construction of Department of Defense facilities
- Knowledge of the Internal Building Code, NFPA Life Safety Code and Unified Facilities Criteria
- Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, Project Schedule)
- Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills
- Excellent written and communication skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
- Supervisory/Lead experience helpful
- Use and knowledge of CAD

The expected compensation range for this position is $60,354 - $86,220 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
