POSITION SUMMARY
Perform a variety of mechanical design duties for the global folio sheeting market which includes the design of mechanical components and subsystems of automated machinery under the guidance of engineering personnel to meet customer and market requirements.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Key Responsibilities/Complexities:
• Working from concepts created in 3D CAD, sketches, or verbal description, create CAD models and other documentation to fulfill design requirements using AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• Prepare and maintain bills of material from CAD assemblies, with due consideration for form, fit, and function, manufacturing feasibility, cost, and operation.
• Using AutoCad to create customer line layouts, foundation drawings, and plant layouts.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Products, using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams to document or analyze data, to prepare reports and presentations.
• Create assembly drawings and dimensioned detail drawings from CAD models that are compliant to per BW Papersystems company standards.
• Familiar with typical manufacturing methods for low-cost solution while meeting design intent.
• Make and properly document revisions to designs and manufacturing drawings.
• Work with external suppliers to properly specify standard commercial parts and custom manufactured parts.
• Participate in design analysis and cost reduction efforts. Contribute to conceptual design meetings and lead presentations at design reviews.
• Support and collaborate with other departments; assist with manufacturing and procurement opportunity; assist manufacturing team with interpretation of mechanical drawings and other related engineering documentation.
• Assists customers, field service personnel, customer service, and sales when questions arise in areas of assigned product responsibility.
• Assist in visualizing and defining design of new machines, sections, systems/units, and any related alterations to other structures/parts.
• Prepare simple layouts/drawings using CAD tools; evaluate design to verify fit and function with due consideration for manufacturing feasibility, cost, and operation.
• Collaborate with engineering to ensure pertinent engineering calculations for materials, stresses, clearances, or other factors, involving use of advanced mathematics and current CAD technologies.
• Prepare bills of material, assembly and detailed drawings, pneumatic schematics and other data utilizing CAD tools.
• Analyze and review basic requests for engineering changes using task/check lists and other design documents, adherence to project milestones with accurate execution.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education/ Experience: Associates Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent work experience in the following areas:
• 3D CAD Modeling
• 2D AutoCAD drafting
• Math Skills: Minimum Ability to work with mathematical formulas, solid geometry, and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and geometry to practical situations. Higher level mathematical knowledge is considered a plus.
