We are actively seeking a dynamic and inventive Mechanical Designer to join our team in Sturtevant, WI. As a pivotal member of our engineering department, you will be instrumental in the design, enhancement, and support of dry products packaging machines. The ideal candidate should possess a strong grasp of engineering principles, coupled with a creative mindset and the ability to lead mechanical projects from inception to manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
Comprehend machine requirements, project objectives, and limitations through project initiation, customer engagement, and design considerations.
Develop mathematically verified concepts to address packaging challenges, ensuring alignment with scientific engineering principles.
Assess and select components for products, taking into account manufacturing processes, material capabilities, and tolerance stack-up conditions.
Revise standard products to boost quality and productivity, while minimizing costs.
Provide technical support to manufacturing by addressing queries related to intended designs.
Support the Sales department by crafting layout drawings and preliminary design concepts for quotations.
Assist the Service department in resolving potential machine issues and contribute to the resolution of warranty matters.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to tackle manufacturing, design, and quality challenges, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Contribute to technical writing, user manual creation, and other documentation.
Prioritize tasks using the prioritization matrix.
Ensure adherence to all quality and safety regulations.
Generate ideas for new products and enhancements to existing designs.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Three to five years of mechanical design experience.
Proven understanding of fundamental engineering principles, including physics, statics, and dynamics.
Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Vault or equivalent software for creating 3D and 2D detailed drawings.
Familiarity with sanitary design concepts for food production and packaging machines (optional).
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and root cause identification abilities.
Ability to envision elegant designs and understand duty cycle designs.
Knowledge of production materials, finishes, processes, and design concepts.
