The Opportunity
As a Mechanical Designer, you will design systems and metal fabrication components for conveyor handling products. You will be responsible for determining the product specifications, performing verification/maintenance and product management and illustrating systems from specifications, source control drawings, sketches, models, prototypes, or verbal instructions. In addition, you will ensure that cost efficiencies are obtained, quality and safety standards are achieved, and customer delivery deadlines are met.
The Team
Reporting directly to the Custom Design Manager, this role will collaborate with the Global Product Management Team to design permanent handling equipment, and with the Sales Execution team to support order fulfilment. The role will also closely work with the engineering, marketing, sales, and manufacturing teams to ensure the integrity, reliability, competitiveness, and profitability of the permanent handling product lines.
Responsibilities
- Revise size, shape, and arrangement of parts to create practical design drawings and participate in engineering and general design reviews as required.
- Perform liaison function between Engineering and all manufacturing operations for any related issues, problems, or improvements. Also, coordinate with internal groups including purchasing, quality control, sales, accounting, metal finishing, and assembly.
- Keep all pertinent parties advised of work status, workload, problems, and progress as related to work assignments.
- Design product to meet all requirements and manage several projects at one time.
- Handle all changes and problems related to the product assigned.
- Responsible for the entire product life cycle.
- Validate structural integrity of basic designs using SolidWorks Simulation.
Qualifications
- 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
- 1 - 3 years’ experience in engineering preferred, not-required
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Engineer design skills with metal fabrication, material handling equipment, grain systems, or equivalent.
