This person will be expected to work closely with our Manager of Engineering to learn all aspects of the specialized valves and actuation systems that our company manufactures and repairs. About BLAC Inc.
BLAC Inc. engineers, manufactures and tests new FCCU, Delayed Coker and Ethylene Service valves and actuator systems and provides repair services worldwide. Some types of valves we manufacture are hot or cold wall slide, butterfly, goggle, diverter, and double disc through conduit valves. Most of our valves are provided to control the process of dense phase catalyst flow or for high temperature gas flow control with some entrained catalyst. We manufacture control systems to operate to the exact process needed of our customers who are typically refineries and chemical plants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop 3D models, assemblies, manufacturing and detail drawings per the project scope, under the direction and guidance of the Manager of Engineering.
- Create BOM, parts lists, material takeoffs, Installation & Repair Manuals, Scope of Work, Repair Scopes, and other documentation as required.
- Measure and/or assist in measuring parts in the shop and on customer’s sites for the creation of drawings.
- SolidWorks (3 years minimum industrial experience) – Main CAE software tool, AutoCAD and Mathcad experience is also a plus.
- Experience in Petrochemical refining, coal gasification, and/or steam power systems is a plus.
Qualifications and Physical Demands
A Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field such as mechanical engineering or technical design is preferred but equivalent work experience will be considered.
The candidate must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and must be familiar with typical office software (Windows, Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, Power Point, Acrobat, etc.)
The candidate must be a U.S. citizen or work permitted resident able to pass a background check, acquire a TWIC, Passport and have the ability to rent and drive a vehicle as travel both domestically and internationally may be required for meetings and site inspections.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; crawl; sit; stoop; kneel; crouch; climb several stories of stairs; climb vertical caged ladders; use hands and arms to touch, feel, handle and use equipment; see; talk and hear.
When travelling to a job site and in our production facility, the employee will be required to use personal protective equipment (equipment and training provided). Occasionally, the employee may be required to enter confined spaces that requires the ability to pass a pulmonary function test and fit test to don a respirator for emergency purposes.
The Houston office located near the George Bush Intercontinental Airport, work is on site in person, Monday-Friday, office hours are 8am-5pm.
