Position Summary
Amazing opportunity to work for an industry leading, performance oriented, and quality focused company. We are looking for a hands-on mechanical engineer to lead the development of Off-Road truck, UTV, and Motorcycle suspension assemblies. Candidate will own their projects from concept development through serial production. Daily activities will include: suspension components and assembly design, engineering analysis, supplier development, component and vehicle testing, vehicle ride development and project management.
Responsibilities:
- Suspension component & assembly design & engineering (shock absorbers)
- Perform calculations or FEA analysis for function, strength, and durability
- Vehicle dynamic ride development on 4 and 2 wheel vehicles
- Apply DFM (design for manufacture/assembly) techniques
- Project management of suspension projects through a structured stage-gate process
- ECN change management for continuous improvement projects
- Vehicle data based application research & database maintenance as required
- Application of GD+T standards and statistical tolerance analysis
- Prepare and present launch and gate reports for management
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. Engineering minimum, M.S. Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience a plus.
- 2-4 years of Mechanical Design experience minimum
- 3D modeling, parametric design and 2D drawings (preferably Solidworks)
- Interest in suspension technology, design, off-road vehicles, motorcycles, ATV/UTV, MTB and automotive light truck
- Experience applying ASME Y14.5-1994 GD&T to designs
- Ability to maintain timelines and meet due dates
- Proficient with MS Excel and Word
- Strong oral and written skills and high level of organization
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Valid driver’s license, clean record with appropriate endorsements.
Desirable Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of vehicle suspension, damper design & development
- 2-4 years of supplier development and management
- Experience in vehicle ride development
- Experience conducting FMEA’s, Control Plans, Design & Production Validation Plans
- Experience in manufacturing processes such as tube forming, CNC machining, welding, powdered metallurgy, etc.
- Experience in performance coating & plating technologies (e-coat, powder, chrome, anodization, zinc, DLC, Kashima, etc)
- Familiarity with Wrike or other project timing software/programs
- Detailed knowledge in 2, 3 & 4 wheeled vehicle dynamics and suspension component design
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Off-Road enthusiast
