This Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be motivated by curiosity and looking to grow professionally in a fast-paced Medical Device environment.
A Day in the Life:
•Conceptualize, prototype, design, and develop mechanical system elements of cardiac electrophysiology catheter and other Class II and III devices for high volume assembly
•Develop manufacturing and assembly processes for complex catheter assemblies containing miniature, precision electromechanical components.
•Conceptualize, design, and implement test methods and fixtures for characterization or validation
•Support device manufacturing efforts by developing improved processes and tooling; troubleshoot manufacturing and assembly issues. Work with Quality team members to develop recovery plans and resolve problems.
•Participate in design reviews and assist with Design and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA).
•Lead design verification/validation activities.
•Identify and work closely with component manufacturers to ensure timely and accurate component delivery.
•Attend and participate in pre-clinical in-vivo system evaluations; interact with clinicians and industry professionals to evaluate design concepts.
•Work cross-functionally with electronics hardware and software engineers to integrate electrical components and systems with the Mechanical Design.
•Lead failure investigations related to manufacturing yield loss or field complaints, implement design updates
•Ability to travel to our Billerica site (20 miles from Newton) as well as occasional travel to other key partner locations as needed during the support of initial manufacturing start-up activities
- Bachelors degree required
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
Nice to Have:
· Strong knowledge of theoretical and practical 1 st engineering principles as well as experimental engineering techniques and a solid ability to work on several projects simultaneously are required.
· At least 5-8 years of Industry experience in the design of mechanical products.
· Experience in medical device design a plus.
· Excellent working knowledge of 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks).
· Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work in a laboratory environment.
· Proven self-starter
· Team-oriented spirit and ability to work cross-functionally across departments.
· Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
· Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
