Mechanical Design Engineer

The Mechanical Design Engineer role, located in Waukegan, IL at Yaskawa’s Headquarters facility, the Engineered Solutions Mechanical Engineer provides high quality technical expertise to assist fellow YAI engineers and customers. The ideal candidate will display a passion for Mechanical Design, a driven attitude and capacity toward learning and mastering motion technology with engineering knowledge acquired at university or through professional experience.
Qualifications:
- BS in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent related work experience
- Minimum of three years of experience with CAD (preferably Solidworks), FEA+CFD, and Matlab.
- Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time and interface with experts from all technical fields.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities, including presentation skills, highly organized and strong analytical skills.
Responsibilities:
- Design and lead in implementing quality custom mechanical systems.
- Create and present design reviews to present to customers as well as internal teams.
- Develop approaches to the solution of problems which require advanced technical knowledge.
- Document all design decisions with analysis to show why decisions were made.
- Create and review engineering drawings for dimensioning and GD&T accuracy, design intent, and manufacturability
- Provide customer support of product implementations.
- Provide activity reports on a regular basis.
- Perform other duties as required.
