JOB SUMMARY:

Utilize engineering "Best Practices" to provide all aspects of product design and development from concept, design verification, production, and testing to field start-up. Responsible for meeting internal and external customer's functional and performance requirements for Welding Group Equipment. To act as Technical Resource for accomplishment of equipment development projects. Ensure that all equipment correlates with divisional key objectives and goals with regard to Safety, Profitability, Customer Satisfaction and Improving Field Reliability.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Participate in the design of Rail Welding Systems and Support Equipment to meet internal and external customer needs.
• Provide sound designs, which meet requirements of project specifications.
• Generate project Bills of Material and Drawings for release through the IFS production system.
• Work closely with other Holland divisions and external customers to progress construction of equipment to meet project needs.
• Perform design calculations, as required by spec, or to verify design integrity.
• Documentation of any equipment and process related changes.
• Support improvements and upgrades to current and future systems
• Provide troubleshooting and repair assistance to all internally developed welding systems and other related equipment.
• Utilize Failure Mode Effects Analysis to optimize designs.
• Participating and assisting in R&D project related to Welding Group and its end products.

• Utilizing Holland's NCR, OFI and Quality Control Program.
• Unscheduled traveling to various site locations for troubleshooting emergencies with minimum notice.
• Working in full compliance and procedures of the Holland Company Safety program to ensure a safe working environment.
• Being compliant with all Holland Company and MOD Operating Policies and Guidelines.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Willingness to wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toed boots) as needed.
• Ability to crouch, bend, stoop, hand/finger dexterity.
• Ability to climb in and out of mobile operating equipment

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

• Office/cubicle environment
• Work in all weather conditions if needed for project
• Ability to travel up to 30% both domestic and international via ground, air and rail

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• MSME or degree in like field strongly preferred
• Minimum 3 years' experience in structural, mechanical, and hydraulic areas of machine design.
• Minimum 3 year's 3D Drafting experience (Solidworks Preferred)
• Project involvement with capabilities of coordinating timelines, costing and documentation.
• Ability to troubleshoot various types of heavy industrial equipment (including remote operating personal and equipment via phone and other methods)
• Ability to read electrical, hydraulic schematics and mechanical drawings
• FEA experience a plus.
• Good training and coaching skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with customers, employee's, management, and vendors. 
• Employee should be quality conscious, self-motivated with strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Possess and maintain a passport.
• Maintain a valid driver's license and abide by our Corporate Fleet Policy
• Pass a mandatory pre-employment drug screen, and a current valid driver's license
