Mackenthun's Meat Specialists are responsible for performing Meat Department services according to department standards and processes.
Meat Specialists must be able to promote Mackenthun's Exceptional Experience by assisting customers, answering customer questions about Mackenthun's, Mackenthun's meats and specialty meat products including Mackenthun's line of Homemade Sausage products.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Meat Specialists are expected to provide excellent customer service; assist customers at the service case and on the sales floor.
Prep value added service case products.
Assist with the cutting and production of meat products.
Assist in production of products in the Homemade Sausage kitchen.
Stock refrigerated and freezer cases and shelves, rotating for freshness.
Wash, rinse, and sanitize meat department equipment.
Set up and/or take down the service case products.
Maintain proper sanitation in the department, including organization of the work area and clean-up including trash, compost, and recycling disposal.
Perform duties in a manner that ensures safe food handling procedures.
Other Duties
Weigh, package, and price meat items.
Assist meat manager with ordering, as needed.
Maintain an organized cooler.
Assist with selling events.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications
Minimum High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Previous Meat/Retail experience preferred.
Food Manager License preferred, may be obtained after hire.
Provide supervision as needed to ensure excellent customer service and personal productivity.
Must be able to clearly speak, read and write the English language.
Must be skilled in basic math.
Be a positive and creative trend-setter with excellent customer service skills, problem solving and decision making skills.
Minimize department losses due to improper product handling, storage, damage and spoils.
Perform duties in a manner that safeguards company equipment, resources and image.
Must be honest and dependable, able to work independently and as a team member.
Must have an interest in selling food and a desire to learn the characteristics and qualities of the products and services Mackenthun's has to offer, in particular Mackenthun's Signature items.
Physical Demands
Constant standing/walking/hearing and seeing, for long periods of time.
Frequent bending at the waist, reaching with hands and arms and reaching above shoulders/below waist, crouching/stooping/kneeling, climbing stairs, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying up to 80 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 2500 lbs with use of pallet jack.
This position requires close/distance/peripheral vision, depth perception and color vision.

Work Environment
Must be able to work with and around machine noise in hot or cold temperatures, on terrazzo flooring in a smoke-free facility in a multifaceted and fast paced environment.
Exposure to cleaning chemicals.
