About the Position
The Math Specialist position will be an instructional leader at Brooklyn RISE who will lead and support instructional staff to help produce the academic outcomes our students deserve. This position is part of leading our K-5 instructional program and works to achieve the academic and socio-emotional outcomes we strive for in our diverse student body.
About Us:
Brooklyn RISE is a small, independent public charter school designed to serve the students and families of Sunset Park, Brooklyn. We opened in September 2019 and currently serve 175 students K-3 with plans to continue to grow into a K-5 school of 312 students.

Primary Job Functions
Instructional Leadership
- Lead the programmatic growth and alignment of our school's math curriculum and instruction structures and practices.
- Manage and develop instructional staff.
- Work closely with the School Leadership Team, including the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, Director of Inclusive Learning, and Director of Operations.
- Relentlessly work to innovate strategies to close academic gaps and ensure all students are on or above grade level across content areas.
Curriculum Design & Instructional Strategy
- Collaborate with instructional leaders to respond to academic data and develop strategic action and intervention plans to ensure all students are supported.
- Select high-quality curricula and annually evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum across content areas.
- Develop cohesive strategy for vertical and horizontal alignment within and across content areas K-5.
- Lead the charge on creation of annual academic assessment calendars and instructional professional development scope and sequence.
Professional Development
- Set and implement the vision for curriculum internalization and implementation, intellectual preparation and data driven planning
- Lead the network academic team in creating and facilitating both faculty and school leader-facing professional development during summer training, ongoing professional development series for instructional staff, as well as various times times throughout the year
- Leading data driven instructional planning including the synthesis of school-based performance data
Candidate Requirements: *
- Must be closely aligned with the Brooklyn RISE mission and vision.
- Significant teaching experience in K-5.
- Previous instructional leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage dynamic projects across various timelines and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Must enjoy working with very talented and dedicated colleagues.
- Collaborative spirit and skill.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree; master’s degree highly preferred.
- Ability to work on administrative (year-round) calendar.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
