Who We Are:

The Modern Classrooms Project (MCP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that empowers educators to build classrooms that respond to every student’s needs. Founded by two award-winning teachers, we lead a movement of educators in implementing a self-paced, mastery-based instructional model that leverages technology to foster human connection, authentic learning, and social-emotional growth.

To date, we have reached over 65,000 teachers through our free online course and 12,000+ teachers through our Virtual Mentorship Program. We serve educators all around the world, and support over 200 school, district, and state partners nationwide. We are an ambitious, idealistic team led by former classroom teachers, and we are passionate about what we do.

Why We Need You:

Our model and the training we offer are designed to empower educators teaching any subject or grade level, in any school, anywhere in the world. We’ve seen everyone from pre-K teachers to law professors implement it effectively. If an educator believes our model will work for their learners, we know it will.

We’ve always had, however, a special relationship with math. Our co-founders initially developed our model as high-school math teachers, some of our most effective implementers are math teachers, and there’s a natural alignment between a mastery-based approach and the way that math knowledge builds on itself. There’s also a huge need for effective instruction in math - and schools and districts across the country who are eager for math pedagogy that really works.

With this in mind, the MCP team is innovating on how we can create a better planning and teaching experience for math educators and a better learning experience for math students. This is where you come in! We need you to manage the implementation of several exciting new math initiatives, including:

  • The adaptation of high-quality math instructional materials into a format that facilitates blended, self-paced, mastery-based instruction.
  • Extensive training, coaching, and ad hoc support of math educators in virtual and in-person settings
  • A multi-year research study on the efficacy of the MCP model in middle school math classrooms.

We want it to be easy for any math educator to meet every learner's needs. You’ll help make that happen.

What You’ll Do:

The Math Curriculum & Support Manager will support math educators across the country in implementing a research-backed instructional model that meets every learner’s needs. To do this, the Manager will work closely with educators participating in MCP's ongoing math initiatives, including studies of MCP implementation in math classrooms and the use of MCP-created curricular materials.

The Manager will take the lead in planning and facilitating virtual workshops and holding one-on-one coaching sessions to make educators’ jobs easier and more enjoyable. In working closely with these educators, the Manager will help MCP shape the future of math education in our partner districts and beyond.

This position requires excellent project management and communication skills, as well as a passion for the pedagogy of mathematics. The Manager will work on the Product team with frequent collaboration with the Research team, reporting to the Director of Math Curriculum & Support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coaching and leading math educators implementing the MCP model, though in-person classroom visits, in-school trainings and regular one-on-one calls
  • Planning and facilitating virtual workshops with educators across the country
  • Collecting and organizing qualitative and quantitative feedback from educators
  • Hiring, training, and managing teachers to work as contractors who help develop math curricular materials
  • Preparing and distributing high-quality curricular resources across multiple platforms, including Google Drive and Memberspace
  • Collaborating with the Product and Research teams to ensure excellent materials for math educators
  • Adapting existing Math Curriculum (e.g. Illustrative Mathematics) to fit the MCP model
  • Manage additional math-related projects as needed

What We’re Looking For:

  • Thorough knowledge of Math Curriculum and pedagogy at the K-12 level.
  • Experience teaching 4th - 9th grade math in a traditional classroom setting (Modern Classroom implementation preferred).
  • Demonstrated exceptional communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Comfort with remote work in a dynamic, start-up environment.
  • General knowledge of Google Suite tools, especially Google Slides & Google Sheets.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and think on their feet.
  • Passionate about making the world a better place, particularly through education.

Compensation and Benefits

We aim to offer a competitive compensation package, as well as the opportunity to work in a fast-growing nonprofit that is on a mission to improve education worldwide. This includes:

  • Salaried position: $72,250 - $80,000 salary per year
  • Employer-sponsored health insurance through CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield
  • Participation in Vanguard 403(b) deferred-compensation plan with 3% employer match
  • Paid Time Off, inclusive of: vacation/PTO (20 days), paid holidays, paid parental leave, sick and safe paid time off, "Me Days", and the ability to earn paid Comp time off
  • Up to $8,000 per year of MCP funded Continuous Learning for the program(s) you request (available after 6 months of continuous full-time employment)
  • Ability to work remotely and to set own hours (within reason)

COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY, EQUITY, & INCLUSION: We are committed to the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion so that every day, in every classroom, every student is seen, challenged, and supported.
