Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and development activities to improve existing materials or develop new materials for specific applications.
- Collect and analyze data on material properties, performance, and behavior.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure materials meet project requirements and specifications.
- Evaluate and select materials based on mechanical, thermal, electrical, and chemical properties.
- Develop and implement testing procedures to assess material performance and quality.
- Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing teams during the fabrication process.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, codes, standards, and advancements in material science.
- Operating, providing training, maintaining, and troubleshooting materials and prototype fabrication processing and material characterization tools
- Conducting regular fabrication and characterization workflows in support of research, prototyping and productization efforts
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Materials in materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, physics or an equivalent degree.
- Experience with hands-on lab work broadly in the field of flexible electronics, stretchable electronics, elastomers, bonding of soft and hybrid materials, liquid metal patterning and integration, surface chemistry of polymers, and high density interconnects.
- Excellent communication skills to clearly explain scientific procedures, plans, and results with experts and non-experts in the field.
- Working in a lab environment and collaborating with cross-functional partners and researchers.
- Excellent experimental and analytical skills- developing SOPs, equipment training and ownership, inventing new process flows, and optimization of existing manufacturing and integration processes.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and concepts.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software for designing and modeling materials.
- Experience with product development processes, including prototyping and testing.
- Knowledge of quality control methods and procedures for ensuring material integrity.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
Desired Qualifications
Phd degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, Material Science, or related field
