OPM Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations will be used in determining applicant's qualifications. There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, the applicant must be able to demonstrate through experience shown in the resume materials, that they possess the skill level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of Materials Handler without more than normal supervision.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Demands: Incumbent's work requires standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, equipment, and materials including and up to 44 pounds. Most work in performed on concrete or hard surface floor, however some work is performed in ware yard or shop area, remote field locations, and dispatch setting.
Work Environment: Incumbent woks in both inside and outside areas. Warehousing is done in areas that are hot, cold, dry, wet, drafty, and poorly lighted. The work is dirty, dusty, and greasy. The employee is exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, and the safety hazards inherent in warehousing. Field conditions require exposure to extreme temperatures, duty conditions, long hours and travel over secondary roads and trails.Education: There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.Employment Type: FULL_TIME
