Job Description
Job Summary: The Material Handler is responsible for safely operating forklift equipment within the manufacturing facility and/or distribution center ensuring that quality products are received, produced, and shipped in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Operates forklift equipment safely and efficiently to receive, handles, and stores product in accordance with HACCP and GMP standards
- Performs vehicle safety checks and reports discrepancies to supervisor
- Ensures all equipment is stored at the end of shift
- Utilizes the scanning system to create accurate locations and perform accurate inventory transactions
- Inspects inbound materials and products for damages, defects, and discrepancies; Promptly reports any issues to Quality and Leadership
- Responsible for monthly inventory and cycle counting of receiving area
- Learns and maintains customer standards for product specifications and acceptable quality
- Reads and follows instructions regarding daily expectations, requirements, or specifications
- Reports any product deficiencies, food or safety concerns to supervisor
- Performs minor equipment adjustments to ensure equipment is operating optimally
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by keeping pallet, warehouse and workstation areas neat, cleaning up aisles, picking up leftover pallets, sweeping the floors and keeping exits clear and free from obstructions
- Follows all safety procedures and actively participates in safety training and safety system ownership initiatives
- Maintains safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person; reports any injury, accident and/or unsafe condition to supervisor immediately
- Supports and complies with GMP’s; understands and follows emergency action plan
- Supports foods safety, quality and legality
- Ensures the operation is providing food-safe, quality products which meet or exceed all product specifications and regulatory requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Qualification:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of forklift and/or warehouse experience
- Technical skills include the basic ability to use a scan gun, forklift certified, basic math and inventory / cycle counting skills
- Interpersonal skills include good verbal and written communication, good time management skills and the ability to follow rules and directions
- Leadership skills include a positive attitude, being a team player and self-leadership
