Warehouse Material Handler
Primary Responsibilities: The Warehouse Technician works on automated product packaging line at a chemical plant / refinery in the Addis, Louisiana, area. The position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the bagging equipment, as well as loading 18 wheeler trailers on the docks.
Work Schedule: 12-hour rotating shift (days/nights/weekends/holidays)
Experience: Previously worked in a fast-pace warehouse environment is preferred, with logistics or material handling, but similar labor intensive job experience will also be considered.
Knowledge/Skill: Must be able to maintain a repetitive pace; Excellent time management skills while working in a fast-paced environment; Strong communication skills; Must be a self-motivator, perform at a safe, quick and repetitive pace throughout each shift in a fast-paced environment; Strong communication skills with co-workers, leadership and management; Listens to guidance and instructions and displays attention to detail and accuracy. At least 5 years of prior forklift experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift/Carry/Push/Pull 50 lbs. repetitively and up to 100 lbs.
- Bend/stoop/crouch/squat/ use arms/wrists/hands/grasp
- Climb stairs/ladder
- Work mostly indoors, occasionally outdoors
- Constantly on/off forklifts
Working Conditions:
- Fast pace warehouse environment;
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes, dusty conditions, and outdoor weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions;
- Possible exposure to machinery with moving parts and chemicals
Specific Responsibilities:
- Machines fill 50 pound bags with PVC powder, seals the bag, labels the bag, and places the sealed and labeled bags in boxes.
- Safely and efficiently operates the bagging and palletizing equipment.
- Bag weighs, labels, palletizes, boxes, bag prints, housekeeping, maximizes production rates, and maintains final product quality.
- Provides support to the packaging machines whenever necessary.
- A large part of time is spent sweeping up PVC powder which will fall to the floor as a result of the packaging process.
- Responsible for stacking boxes onto pallets which are loaded on trucks via forklift.
- Maintains a safe working environment at all times.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
- Education/Training: High School diploma or GED
- Licenses/Certifications: Driver’s License; Forklift and Pallet Jack certification; Minimum of 18 years of age
- 5 years of order selecting/warehouse/loading cargo containers
