Position/Title: Material Handler

Reports to: Production Supervisor
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Material Handler is responsible for a wide variety of plant and production support.
CORE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site, performing any combination of following duties: reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
- Loads and unloads materials onto or from trucks, trailers, pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand, if necessary.
- Conveys materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area, using lift truck or hand truck if necessary.
- Lifts heavy objects by hand or using power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment, using broom, rags, and cleaning compounds, to assist machine operators.
- Performs cycle counts in accordance with process.
- Ensure yard and containers are kept clean and organized.
- Off load freshly produced and QC approved finished goods into the appropriate containers.
- Stack and pile finished goods onto pallets.
- Prepare goods for shipment for final packaging.
- Pack following a specific set of instructions.
- Clean and prepare containers for packaging and clean acrylic processing manufacturing pots for reuse.
- Check to ensure containers are damage free.
- Remove completed or defective products or materials.
- Seal and label each container.
- Move completed packages for loading and/or storage.
- Mark and label containers.
- Seal containers with glue and fasteners.
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Proven experience as a materials handler is preferred. Ability to operate all of the necessary handling machines and tools (i.e. splicer). Must be able to read directions and manuals. Working knowledge of diverse machinery and tools. Adheres to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear). Must possess analytical skills and an excellent attention to detail. Ability to work individually or in a team setting and with good communication skills. High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical degree is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The employee is required to sit, climb, balance, carry, push, pull, reach, and adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Ability to use a telephone for communication. Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise and effective manner with the co-workers, company representatives, management, and staff in face-to-face, one-on-one and group settings. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at the facility. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, chemicals and/or airborne particles, high pressure fluids, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Must be tolerate to inclement weather, including heat and cold.
