We are currently looking for a Material Handler to join our team in Chicago Heights, Illinois.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Material Handler is responsible to load and unload material for inbound or outbound trucks. Move, log, organize and catalogue material. Pick material for production jobs.
Task and Responsibilities:
- Follow work orders, pick lists, bills of lading and other shipping documents
- Calculate weight of parts and shipments
- Read and follow production schedule
- Safely operate jib and overhead cranes
- Safely operate powered industrial truck
- Able to work with little supervision
- Adhere to Nortrak’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing.
- Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
- Regularly lift and move up to 10-15 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 70 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Hearing abilities related to job assigned.
Job Requirements (e.g. education, experience, skills and desired competencies)
- High School graduate or GED preferred
- Forklift and Crane certification preferred
- Ability to read work orders, pick lists, bills of lading, and shipping documents
- Ability to utilize a tape measure down to at least a 1/16th
- Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals
