Master Mechanic

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Ensure a safe and harassment and discrimination free work environment by following and enforcing all safety rules and procedures, all company policies, applicable laws, and Precision Values
  • Conduct and document routine maintenance and minor repairs to shuttle and yard vehicles in order to keep them in a safe and mechanically sound condition
  • Order, store, and keep inventory on any required tools, parts and supplies needed to conduct maintenance and repairs
  • Control LOTO procedures concerning inoperable or unsafe vehicles until repairs or corrective actions have been completed
  • Replace and/or repair normal wear and tear on parts including brakes, rotors, minor engine components, etc
  • Conduct oil changes, tire changes, tune ups, filter replacements and normal mileage/operating hours lubricating and services
  • Routine maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all rail loading ramps in the same manner as shuttle and yard vehicles as mentioned above
  • Responsible for any minor maintenance and repair to the grounds and facilities in which he or she is capable or qualified to conduct or complete

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle safely
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to pass a driver’s license check with no more than 4 points present, no DUI’s or suspensions within the last 3 years
  • Ability to pass a drug screen
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • The employee is required to converse and listen in office and industrial settings (indoor & outdoor; noise level is high at times).
  • The employee is frequently required to move about on concrete and uneven surfaces for extended periods of time (4-8 hours).
  • The employee is required to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • The employee is frequently required to remain stationary for extended periods of time (4-8 hours).
  • The employee is frequently required to lift 25 pounds unassisted.
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, ascend or descend ladders safely at heights of 10 feet or more, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and adjust focus
