The McBurney YMCA is seeking a Massage Therapist who will offer safe and effective therapeutic massage/bodywork to address any specific needs of members and contribute to their total wellness. The Massage Therapist must be a self-starter with a commitment to displaying high standards of customer service and must follow appropriate procedures and protocols established by the field’s Code of Ethics and the YMCA of Greater New York.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform massage therapy for members to help relieve stress, reduce aches/pains and impact the overall feeling of well-being.
- Exhibit knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, myology, pathology, somatic, ethics, various massage/bodywork modalities, and apply accordingly.
- Maintain a professional relationship with clients/members.
- Maintain hygiene and cleanliness of work areas according to local, state and federal health and safety regulations.
- Collect receipts from members and hand in receipts on a weekly basis.
- Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services offered.
- Provide a high level of service with regards to members’ needs, concerns, and questions about the YMCA, its programs and mission.
- Be punctual for all appointments and maintain necessary records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain required licenses/certifications/continuing education hours.
- Actively participate in training sessions and designated meetings.
- Support community and promotional special events as needed.
- Other activities and duties as needed that address the ongoing health and well-being of our staff and members.
- Follow and maintain sanitary habits in accordance with CDC guidelines.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Massage Therapist.
- Valid New York State massage therapy license required.
- Adult CPR/First Aid/AED.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
