Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is a national 501(c)3 non-profit committed to raising funds for research to develop new, improved and less toxic treatments for pediatric cancer — the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S. Through the concept of local events and online cookie sales, Cookies for Kids’ Cancer has granted more than $21 million to date, funding 130+ research projects that have led to 25 new treatments becoming available for children battling cancer today.
Job Summary
Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is seeking a hands-on, creative Marketing & Communications Coordinator, who is excited to jump in and take over all aspects of our social media efforts from creating content to expanding into new platforms. We are looking for the person who wants to share stories of supporters from grassroots supporters to doctors to chefs who are committed to helping kids. This is a pivotal role within our organization - you will be working side-by-side with the organization leaders who take a hands-on collaborative approach. It is truly a team environment. The right candidate is someone who is a passionate perfectionist looking for a work environment where you know what you are doing counts. The successful applicant for this role will have a unique alignment of skills: highly self-motivated, results-driven, team player, proficient at relationship management, excellent storyteller, and skilled across all social media platforms. They will report to the Senior Editor and work closely with the Executive Director, playing a critical role in being a face and voice for the organization.
This is a remote position, but the greater New York City area is preferred.
Responsibilities
The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will develop integrated digital marketing strategies to promote the organization and our mission. This role will manage the planning, distribution, and reporting of Cookies for Kids’ Cancer’s external communications with the key purposes of driving awareness, donor acquisition, and nurturing community engagement.
As a trusted member of the team, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator will be counted on for effective marketing and outreach across a number of initiatives. Key activities include:
Social Media Marketing
- Create and post content that encourages awareness and engagement for all Cookies for Kids’ Cancer social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, and Linkedin) and oversee day-to-day account management.
- Proactively seek and develop mission-related content via a variety of media including stories, video, photo, interviews, and infographics.
- Produce social media and web graphics utilizing software including Adobe Suite & Canva.
- Facilitate community engagement through monitoring, responding, and interacting with online audiences.
- Analyze account engagement metrics to accurately measure performance.
- Translate qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising social media strategies.
- Explore the expansion of our social media network, such as implementing X, TikTok, and Pinterest.
- Explore YouTube channel including creating new video content and executing ad campaign
- Actively participate in social listening to engage stakeholders and grow social platforms, as well as to identify new opportunities for engagement.
- Conduct regular market research for new events and campaigns.
- Keep current on trends, best practices, new/emerging platforms, and algorithm updates.
Communications
- With Senior Editor, develop an editorial content calendar that tracks and plans all external content, including social media posts, emails, blogs, and more.
- Build, post and send external communications pieces, including blogs and eblasts
- Work with Development team to create Corporate pitch decks and other stylized proposals.
- Maintain a well-organized database of digital assets, press texts and brand communication tools across all categories.
Other Responsibilities
- Oversee web management, including content and general maintenance/edits.
- Report on monthly metrics utilizing Google Analytics.
- Analyze web traffic to accurately measure performance.
- Translate qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising website strategies.
- Maintain a well-organized database of digital assets, press texts and brand communication tools across all categories.
- In collaboration with other members of the team, plan and execute short-term digital marketing campaigns to raise awareness, attract donors, and recruit supporters.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
The ideal candidate would have the following capabilities and qualities:
- BA/BS degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or English preferred
- 1-3 years of relevant experience; nonprofit experience preferred
- Excellent writing and editing skills, including writing for a variety of audiences and a wide range of content types
- Experience building and scaling brand social media accounts
- Experience building communities and launching campaigns across relevant social channels, including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook
- Knowledge of influencer marketing is a plus
- Knowledge of paid social media advertising is a plus
- Ability to deliver creative content. Must have impeccable eye for visual style and branding and excellent graphic design skills (Canva or other)
- Experience using Shopify/WordPress to manage websites, and Active Campaign for email marketing
- Experience working as part of a team delivering coordinated services highly desirable
- Ability to pay close and accurate attention to details
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects
- Must be motivated to work independently
- Self-starter with a commitment to the mission of raising funds for research to develop new, improved, and less toxic treatments for pediatric cancer — the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S.
Compensation & Benefits
Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is seeking a full-time Marketing & Communications Coordinator with an expectation of 40/hours a week. This is a remote position.
Compensation range is $45,000 - $60,000 annually.
