LOCATION

DOROT is headquartered on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, with an additional site in Westchester County, and the team works on a hybrid schedule. The Marketing and Communications Manager will be expected to work in the office a minimum of three days a week.

DOROT is dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults to help them live more independently and as valued community members. ABOUT THE ADVANCEMENT TEAM

The Marketing and Communications team is responsible for DOROT’s internal and external communications and any related PR and marketing to support the recruitment of donors, older adults, and volunteers. They are part of the Advancement Team which also includes Development/Fundraising.


THE OPPORTUNITY

The Marketing and Communications Manager has experience in nonprofit settings who will help plan strategic campaigns and create multi-channel content to achieve the following goals: increased awareness about DOROT’s work to alleviate social isolation and its leadership in the field; expanded program participation and volunteer recruitment; increased engagement and donations. In this newly created role, they will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications and collaborate closely with the Marketing and Communications, Advancement, and Program teams to achieve DOROT’s strategic growth objectives.


WHAT YOU’LL DO


Email Marketing

Serve as team lead on email marketing: work with Marketing and Communications Director and Senior Marketing Manager, Brand & Content, to develop agency-wide email strategy that furthers DOROT’s recruitment, cultivation, and awareness goals; advise on best practices; oversee day-to-day email functions.

  • Design, write, and edit emails.
  • Manage email calendar to ensure optimal cadence.
  • Expand use of audience segmentation.
  • Manage and grow email lists.
  • Establish benchmarks; review and report analytics; and use data to enhance email effectiveness.
  • Train staff across the agency in email best practices.

Develop Marketing Materials

In collaboration with Marketing and Communications and Program teams, develop and coordinate creation of strategic marketing assets promoting DOROT programs and volunteer opportunities to current and new audiences.

  • Write, edit, and optimize long and short-form content for digital and print platforms, including website, digital and print ads, flyers, brochures, and magazines that speak to targeted audiences.
  • Help ensure that DOROT’s materials accurately reflect program language and meet the agency’s DEI goals.
  • Work with Senior Marketing Manager, Brand & Content, in updating and optimizing website and creating analytic reports.
  • Gather and synthesize program information and data to inform campaign development.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Marketing Manager, Brand & Content, and graphic designer to develop print and digital templates and use templates in Canva to create assets aligned with DOROT brand.
  • Train staff across the agency on Canva best practices and how to effectively use Canva templates.
  • Meet regularly with program teams to understand recruitment and marketing goals and to review ongoing marketing needs.
  • Oversee and coordinate photo and video shoots as needed.
  • Help organize and manage image and information archives.

Other Marketing Projects as Needed

  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team on additional projects as they arise including the Annual Benefit, media opportunities, and others.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 2+ years of related marketing experience, ideally with mission driven organizations.
  • Proven record of accomplishment in effective email Marketing and in developing strategic marketing materials including digital, print, and social, that achieve stated goals.
  • Experience using digital tools, including an email marketing system, content management system, Google Analytics, and Canva.
  • Extensive writing experience in a marketing context and good design sense.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office software. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Availability to work occasional evening and weekend hours for special projects, and up to four Sundays a year for Package Deliveries and other activities.

Candidates can expect a base salary between $65,000-$80,000 commensurate with relevant experience.
