Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer reports to our Process Engineering Manager in our Manufacturing Modules Department and is responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing methods and processes for our printed circuit board assembly lines. This position assists with the maintenance of assembly equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designs, develops and/or improves manufacturing processes and creates procedures to support the processes.
- Analyzes product designs for best method of manufacture.
- Identifies ways to reduce operator variability by designing fixtures or tooling.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by researching, analyzing, and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives resulting in productivity improvements through deployment of methodologies such as SMED, Poke-a-Yoke, Kan Ban, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping and others as appropriate.
- Interfaces with Quality and Engineering teams regarding PDR's, MRR's, and other quality related issues and provides support in the processing and resolution of these issues.
- Addresses ECNs and Bill of Material related issues with applicable Engineering teams to ensure product accuracy.
- Monitors performance of equipment, machines, and tools and corrects equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields or product quality issues.
- Supports production floor through equipment procurement and training staff on new equipment.
- Ensures equipment reliability by managing a preventative maintenance schedule that is implemented by directing technical staff to perform when and how to preform specific maintenance functions.
- Provides technical support and serves as the technical point of contact for Sales and Engineering groups.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of process or manufacturing related experience.
- Previous process development experience supporting a production electronic assembly environment.
- Strong problem solving/troubleshooting experience.
- Independent self-motivated work habits.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Innovative and creative thinking.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Electronics industry experience.
