Tesla’s Automation Development team is at the forefront of building innovative automation equipment. This team is building the next generation of equipment that will allow our operations team to produce amazing vehicles at best in class quality and rate; in a safe and ergonomic environment. We are seeking an Associate Manufacturing Engineer to focus on supporting the fabrication operations. In this role, you will function to support fabrication to execute effectively and maintain schedule. This role requires the individual to work with the mechanical engineering team and the fabrication team to process and monitor all fabricated parts. The Manufacturing Engineer will work intimately with fabrication, engineering, purchasing, and assembly teams.
What You’ll Do- Manage fabrication timelines, resources, communications, quality, risks, whilst uncovering roadblocks, defining critical paths, identifying resource constraints, and any other issues that arise
- Oversee job tracking reporting system, including incoming material and outsourced finishing processes. Highly organized and able to multitask with complex problems
- A deep understanding of manufacturing knowledge specific but not limited to machining, welding, sheet metal, heat treat, materials, and surface treatments
- Review engineered prints for manufacturing with respects to correctness, clarity, feasibility and material callouts. Work with engineering to design for manufacturing
- Work with vendors for quote requests, technical questions, provide updated filetypes, maintain due dates, and evaluate pricing and quality
- Assist in creating manufacturing procedures for multi process weldments and complex machined parts
- Create CNC programs that require 3D machining techniques and or multi process, complicated parts
- Solid works manipulate and isolate various assemblies, creating models for fixturing
- Minimum 8 years of CNC / Fabrication process experience in a fast paced, highly fluid environment or other evidence of exceptional ability
- Demonstrated, applied experience delivering complex fabricated parts and assemblies. Machining/Welding/Materials/Material treatments/Sheet Metal/Various fabrication techniques
- High level of organizational skills, communication, and acute attention to detail. Experienced in all Microsoft Office products
- Experience with CAD and CAM. Preferred Solid works and Gibbs CAM
