Compensation

The salary for this role is $130,000 - $165,000. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the postedWe may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. This salary range may also be modified in the future.

About the Role:

LS power is seeking a Manager, Transmission & Interconnection to assist with the planning and interconnection of utility scale, in front of the meter renewable energy projects and large customer loads to the electric transmission system across the country. This role will support the LS Power objective of developing and growing a portfolio of large-scale renewable energy and storage projects, hydrogen production facilities and data centers.

What you will do:

• Serving as primary point of contact with the ISO/RTO and host electric utility and leading projects through the interconnection process
• Developing interconnection applications in accordance with the ISO/RTO and host utility requirements
• Developing and collecting technical data required to complete interconnection requests and study requirements
• Managing external consultants required to develop any technical information to support both generation and load interconnection processes
• Work with the host utility and other external stakeholders to complete technical studies efficiently and on schedule while resolving any interconnection issues
• Managing the overall interconnection process from initial concept through successful interconnection and commercial operation
• In concert with the development team, help design, permit, contract and manage project sited medium and high voltage systems and substations
• Collaborating with the internal Subject Matter Experts, external consultants, utility contacts and OEMs to support various activities associated with a project
• Explore opportunities to develop projects in various markets, identify superior interconnection locations within markets of interest and propose a strategy for management’s consideration

We want you on our team because you…

• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in electrical engineering, or a related field
• Have 5-10 years’ experience in developing utility scale infrastructure projects with a focus on high-voltage systems
• Possess an understanding of transmission planning process, reliability criteria and standards commonly applicable in North America
• Have knowledge of the electric utility business, transmission tariffs, interconnection processes and ISO/RTO functions and operation
• Hold project management experience
• Can work Independently (work ethic/self-motivation) and demonstrated leadership ability ideally in a development role overseeing multiple projects simultaneously
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external customers including senior leadership

Ideally you also have..

• Experience at an electric utility, developer of electrical infrastructure projects or a consulting firm supporting projects in energy sector
• Experience reviewing and interpreting transmission and interconnection tariffs, business practices and providing strategic direction to the project teams
• Prior experience managing large load interconnection process
• Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
• Experience working with CAISO, ERCOT and PJM
