Provides leadership and facilitates communication with various hospital departments and other Metro hospitals by assuring timely, accurate, efficient and appropriate performance and reporting of patient information. Manager encourages continuous quality improvement initiatives in patient service. Manager supervises both clerical and professional staff. This position is under the direct supervision of the Director. Incumbent is responsible for 2424 hours/day, 7 days/week; on site 8 hours/day, 5 days/week subject to overtime and call back as required.
Responsibilities
- Assures the efficient operation of the department by implementing and monitoring both technical and safety policies/ procedures for the department that comply with quality and regulatory requirements.
- Determines staffing job requirements by interviewing potential employees, evaluating performance on measurable departmental goals, and approves schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels for the department.
- Serves as a resource for the staff by sharing technical knowledge of procedures and trains staff to ensure quality patient outcomes.
- Coordinates continuous quality improvement initiatives and interacts with other departments to provide added value to department service level and patient safety.
- Provides leadership by advising and directing the staff, communicating/rounding with employees regularly, and assisting in the development of measurable department goals to include the areas of quality, service, people, community, finance, growth, and integration.
Requirements, Preferences and Experience
Education
Minimum: Bachelor Degree and completion of AMA approved program for medical technology.
Experience
Preferred: 5-10 years with Cellular Therapy Collection
Minimum: Advanced technical and managerial skills as acquired by 8-10 years' experience in medical technology, at least 3 years in supervisor capacity in Blood Banking.
Licensure, Registration, Certification
Preferred: Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB)
Minimum: Tennessee Department of Public Health Med Tech General Supervisor License, Certification ASCP or equivalent
