Introduction

The Credentialing Manager for Anesthesia Services is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and activities for direct reports to ensure provider files are processed within a timely manner to meet designated start dates. The Credentialing Manager works to ensure department productivity and quality standards are met or exceeded by coordinating staffing and developing efficient workflows. The Manager guides the staff in their day-to-day responsibilities, including mentoring and training the staff as needed. Proficient in facilitation and interpersonal communication, the Manager also consistently demonstrates skills in organization, prioritization, professionalism and coaching others. 

Job Summary and Qualifications
  • Manages provider credentialing and enrollment process; ensuring completion is done in a timely fashion to expedite revenue flow.
  • Provide daily oversight, direction, support, and leadership to direct reports.
  • Coordinate and communicate continuously with other departments to share information, best practices, systems issues, process, solutions, and training needs.
  • Works collaboratively with key strategic partners to include facility Medical Staff Leadership, Healthtrust, department directors, and Parallon leadership to accomplish organizational and program goals.
  • Communicate credentialing and enrollment updates to senior leadership as needed.
  • May carry up to a 20% Credentialing workload; Updates and maintains provider enrollment/credentialing files as necessary.
  • Ability to travel if needed.
  • Ensure compliance with company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Proactively review and provide data analysis and financial impact assessments.
  • Establish and review internal controls to ensure goals, objectives, standards, and benchmarks for the department are met or exceeded.
  • Determine staff hours, number of personnel, and resources required for efficiency.
  • Screen, interview, and hire new employees.
  • Evaluate staff performance and recommend appropriate merit increases and promotions.
  • Counsel staff regarding disciplinary and performance issues.
  • Mentor staff for career development.
  • Ensure training needs are met.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all regulatory bodies that impact policies and procedures.
  • Maintain working knowledge of workflow, systems, and tools used in the department.
  • Promote continuous improvement and best practice in processes and performance for improving department functions.
  • Lead in the creation and maintenance of a positive working environment.
  • Review employee engagement results and facilitate the development of action plans.
  • Review, correct, and approve employees’ hours in a timely manner.
  • Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field required. Equivalent work experience may substitute education requirements.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in related area preferred with two of these years being healthcare management experience. 
  • NAMSS CPCS Certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Effective working knowledge of healthcare systems management, hospital management, healthcare financial management, hospital-based physician practice accounting and third-party reimbursement issues, patient flow, and clinical operations.
  • Ability to see shifts inside the business and proactively work to make changes and quickly implement or act on new ideas.
  • Ability to remain fluid by changing and updating how we do business by continuous innovation.
  • Willingness and desire to learn new things and dig deeper than the surface
