TrinityRail is searching for a Manager, Technical Support Mechanical Welding at our Jonesboro, Arkansas rail maintenance facility.
The Technical Support Manager teaches, coaches, and mentors SME's, Railcar repairers, and leads for continuous improvement. Additionally, this role is a Mechanical Welding process, Railcar repairer, and training expert and a resource for the local leadership team to assure compliance for the TrinityRail Plant Welding Management Program and implementation of the TrinityRail SME Operations Training Program. This Manager leads a team that administers, reviews, and reports on skills proficiency training, Mechanical Welding processes and procedures as they are executed in the plant. They will utilize data analytics in cost analysis, defect root cause corrective action analysis, and implementation of improvement processes.

What you'll do:
- Manage and maintain the TrinityRail Plant Welding Management Program with emphasis on maintenance repair training
- Lead implementation of the TrinityRail SME Operations Training Program
- Adapt, modify programs to train and utilize direct labor to grow efficiencies faster than forecast DLH with all types of work mix
- Implement on boarding- operational training courses, curriculum to support business, production plans
- Develop, train and supervise Subject Matter Experts, SMEs, to improve skills competencies that impact quality and efficiency
- Monitor shop floor processes, equipment, report, recommend and take actions to help create a controlled environment
- Provide Classroom and OJT demonstrations of proper techniques, crucial welding variables, and process problem solving
- Collaborate with Ops Leaders on Employee Development, Training Plans, provide reports and skills proficiency assessments
What you'll bring:
- Bachelors Degree and/or or equivalent with Railcar Fleet Maintenance, Customer Service experience
- 5 + years experience as a certified welder including time as a specialist training, calibrating machinery, etc. (CWI certification minimally)
- Ability to work in a team-environment; train and coach operations team members and specifically work closely with new and existing welders
- Ability to manage schedules and timelines for completion of all initiatives to support plant overall goals including pre-employment assessment, post hire onboarding and training, maintaining welder certifications, etc.
- Prior leadership/mentorship background preferred
- Strong presenter/communication skills
- Collaborative attitude and work management style
- Knowledge of AAR Field Manual, AAR Appendix W, and AWS D15.1
- Knowledge of FCAW and SAW, GMAW, Plasma Cutting,GMAW and mechanized welding
- Ability to travel to other US facilities as needed (below 10% annually)
- Ability to work flexible hours in the event of multiple shifts
