We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Manager, Social Media to be a key member of our dynamic Digital Services content team - converging brand goals, content strategy, team coverage and performance analytics within our social and digital ecosystem. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day team coverage, social publishing and supporting our overarching brand storytelling of the Phoenix Mercury. The main goal is to drive brand love around our team, our players - all focused on driving impactful engagement across Phoenix Mercury social channels. This role will focus on organic coverage across channels while also delivering on partner entitlements, reporting to the Sr. Manager of Brand & Content.
What Will You Do:
- Spearhead game day, practice and key player & member event coverage, which includes but is not limited to copy development, content curation, publishing, community management and in-game photography
- Develop and maintain a daily, weekly, and monthly Social Media calendar for both organic and branded content
- Ideate and create engaging and on-trend organic content on a daily basis to grow our TikTok & IG Reels content
- Analyze and optimize performance across Phoenix Mercury social channels using social analytics and listening tools like Quid
- Work on cross-department initiatives like major brand shoots, charities initiatives and membership acquisition
- Engage in community management by having conversation across social channels with fans, players, artists, local media, etc. while building followers and engaging influencers
- Support the development of influencer activations for key initiatives
- Support the development of ideas for social in marketing pitchbacks for our biggest campaigns
- Collaborate with the Director of Social Strategy growth strategies for emerging or new social platforms
- Track weekly progress of Social Media KPIs and channel growth goals
- Support the Partnerships team with planning and coordination of partner activations, such as digital and social deliverables, branded content, and video series
What We Need From Our Manager, Social Media:
- In-depth knowledge of the WNBA and key players
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A high level of professional maturity and experience with conveying ideas to executive stakeholders
- A passion for Social Media, as well as entertainment and pop culture
- Possess a high level of confidentiality to handle sensitive information
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including traveling in-season with long hours, evening, weekends, holidays
Experience/ Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree (required)
- 3-5+ years of experience working within social or brand marketing
- 1+ years of WNBA-specific experience (strongly preferred)
- Advanced in-game action and event photography skills
- Experience supporting social strategies across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, and other emerging platforms
- Experience in making data-driven decision making with social
- Deep knowledge about Social Media platforms, with the ability to educate various internal departments on the ever-changing world of social trends and culture
- Experienced content creator and mobile-first editor to execute content in real time across multiple platforms (preferred)
