Overview
The Program Manager- Marketplace is a sales position which is responsible for growing and managing sales and profitability directly and through Cooperative agreements. This position will develop and implement long-term selling strategies, customer partnerships and business alliances.
The Program Manager- Marketplace will establish themselves as a trusted advisor to the field and/or inside sales teams by providing training and advising on strategy, pricing, and Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO) best fit for the customer. In addition, this position will partner with internal teams in all areas of the business (pricing, compliance, marketing, training, strategic, retention & acquisition sales teams) to build new business, maintain and grow revenue with profitable margins within assigned territory.
The sales quotas/responsibilities will be approximately under $75M.
This role will require that the employee customarily and regularly travel within the assigned territory away from his or her regular place of business (e.g., home or business office) to meet with customers and make sales.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Sales & Strategy:
o Elements of contract management may include support of RFP response, contracting (lead agency and end customer when necessary), implementation, pricing management, business reviews, initiating contract extensions, new solicitations, rebate validation and coordination, coordination of audits, and supporting Federation partners with program where applicable.
o Attend key customer meetings and collaborate with field reps to prepare customer strategy and sales presentation for meetings.
o Leverage strategic relationships within assigned target accounts.
o Accountable for developing winning account strategies & coordinating implementation activities for assigned target accounts.
o Lead calculated & collaborative actions to build new business, maintain & grow existing revenue within assigned territory, including escalated service issues & retention efforts.
o Participate in joint sales calls with field sales reps.
o This will require the employee to customarily and regularly travel within the assigned territory away from his or her regular place of business (e.g., home or business office) to meet with customers and make sales, with little or no supervision
· Reporting & Analysis:
o Leadership role in analyzing market opportunities and deployment strategies for field sales management & field sales.
o Report & share significant competitive activity.
o Participate in quarterly business reviews with customers, field & field management as appropriate.
· Training & Communication:
o Conduct training on the Cooperative programs for field reps.
o Work with teams to create tools and conduct training internally and externally (new hire training, program training, training, tool creation, etc.
o Ongoing maintenance of assets in key communication portals: SFDC & Sales Communication Portal.
o Create marketing materials for field and cooperative marketing partners.
o Work with cooperative marketing partner to ensure all resources are being adequately utilized (marketing, online resources, sales resources), attend appropriate public sector conferences and tradeshows, gain, and share knowledge including competitive intelligence (may require limited weekend travel/participation). Tradeshow strategy and coordination with marketing.
o Identify & share best practices.
· Responsible for compliance to legal agreement (pricing, rebates, admin fees, marketing, etc.) Serve as a conduit for field sales and contract compliance teams to ensure contract is executed properly

Education and Experience:
· High School diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s preferred
· Minimum of 3-5 years experience in related field
· Outside sales experience
· Strong Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint skills
· Strong selling skills
· Strong communication skills
· Strong margin management experience
· Demonstrated knowledge and success in selling higher & wider in organizations.
· Demonstrated success in managing by influence.
· Strong analytical, oral, written and presentation skills.
· Organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Must be knowledgeable and have experience in public sector sales.
· Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated.
· Must have a desire to develop an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the products and services offered by Office Depot as well as those offered by the competition.
· Must demonstrate an understanding of assigned segment, the current trends, and leverage that information to the benefit of Office Depot and the customer.
· Flexible with respect to change initiatives.
· Perseverant despite customer objections.
· Integrity, Accountability & Trust is a must.
· Must possess a desire to continually develop skills and product knowledge.
