As a Manager of Product Development, you will...
  • Contribute to Starbucks success by influencing and advancing projects on your own and through direct reports, with strategic understanding of the deliverables, and application of strong technical creative acumen and communication
  • Autonomously lead advanced and complex projects, often leading multiple projects at the same time across one or two platforms or channels and guide others in the same.
  • Leverage data and business, customer and trend expertise to create new beverage concepts while ensuring compliance and achievement of business requirements and goals
  • Develop project work plans and cross-functional timelines, manage project information, and proactively assess and adjust for potential risks
  • Lead self and help others in all phases and activities of commercialization and scale up
  • Create processing and product specifications and ensure that products and processes meet initial quality assurance, safety and risk assessment requirements
  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally to bring products to market, including the identification of potential new suppliers or raw materials
  • Manage and grow other beverage R&D team members, guiding them through project work and supporting their development to help them be successful and achieve their career goals

We'd love to hear from people with:
  • BS/MS in Food Science or other related field
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in food and beverage innovation/Product Development, bench-top to full scale commercialization and process improvement or development
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Product Development and manufacturing of food and beverage products
  • Experience leading others
  • Knowledge of food and beverage technology, ingredient functionalities, chemistry, or engineering including processing and manufacturing
  • Understanding of beverage ingredients such as sauces, syrups, dry mixes, dairy, aseptic, toppings.
  • Knowledge of development and scale up of food and beverage products
  • Knowledge of food quality control, safety and microbiology
  • Knowledge of sensory, experimental design, statistics, and consumer research methodologies
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to influence stakeholder internally and externally
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills, written and verbal
  • Principle and application of Human Centered Design (HCD)
