We are looking for an entrepreneurial, creative, collaborative food professional to join our development team. You will work on all stages of recipe development including ideation, iteration and commercialization. You’ll collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders and leverage your experience in culinary development and production execution.
Key job responsibilities
The Amazon Fresh Grocery Product Manager works closely with the Executive Chef & Culinary Development Team and all cross functional Teams to develop delicious Menu items to be served from numerous in-store Venues. We accomplish this by working closely with outside product producers, internal culinary teams, Category Manager inputs and overall leadership guidance. This position also involves being fluent in what is happening in the Grocery Prepared Foods world as a whole and new and exciting trends
A day in the life
The Culinary Development team works closely with our Kitchen Operations teams to ensure there is clear guidance on execution of the whole Prepared Foods program. Regular sampling of potential new products, possible substitute products and equipment to support the overall program. Performing sensory evaluations of all products to gain customer like inputs.
About the team
The Executive Chef leads the Culinary Development Team. Also on this team is the Sous Chef, a Sourcing Manager and a Commercialization Manager. We work closely as a team to ensure all food items served in our Stores meet all requirements to do so. Our mission is to serve delicious, wholesome food in the quickest, safest way possible utilizing modern kitchen equipment and well vetted SOP's. In addition we serve as the Prepared Foods experts on the overall Grocery Team and lend our expertise where needed.

Experience building and analyzing cost/benefit scenarios and business cases and communicating results throughout the organization
5 years in food industry in menu and Product Development
Experience working in a cross-functional large organization environment
Significant experience/knowledge in fresh prepared food development to include Nutrition, Allergens & regulatory requirements.
5 years Operational experience in restaurants/Prepared Foods environment
High level of overall cooking knowledge and ability to follow complex recipe steps as well as the ability to adhere to a Stage Gate Process for product launches.
Strong knowledge of food safety
Understanding of food quality control
Understanding of proper food storage, cooking temperatures, cooling, and sanitation in addition to general HACCP programs.
Professional/Advanced knife skills
Physical essential functions - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and ability to stand on your feet for up to 8 hrs at a time with or without reasonable accommodation
Able to obtain local food handling certification
Must be up to date on general computer use.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $55,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $132,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
