The Mechanical Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the engineering staff and external engineering, as well as being the discipline lead, performing design and analysis as directed to support various projects.
Essential Functions

- Applies knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions.
- Keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting his or her organization and recommends new practices or changes to better the department and company.
- Coordinates and manages assigned engineering team including mentoring, professional development, and career growth.
- Coordinates and manages external resources to ensure consistent quality and delivery of work product.
- Independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
- Works on major project or several projects of moderate scope with complex features.
- Creates or Reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
- Develops new techniques and/or improved processes, materials, or products.
- Assists upper-level management or staff as a technical specialist or advisor.
- When assigned as Mechanical Engineer Lead on a project, supervises all staff necessary to complete the project.
- Receives supervision and guidance related to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
- Serves as the technical specialist for the organization in the application of advanced concepts, principles and methods in an assigned area.
- Interprets, organizes, executes and coordinates assignments.
- Plans, schedules, or coordinates the preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects.
- Reviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures.
- Routinely interacts with PMs, clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others.
- Represents the organization and maintains liaisons with individuals and related organizations.
- Performs other related duties, as directed.
- 10+ years of engineering experience including 2+ years of previous engineering supervisory project management experience.
- Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- BS in Engineering from ABET accredited university required. MS degree preferred.
- Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
- Professional Engineer License or commitment to get PE licensure within one (1) year of accepting the job.
- Advanced knowledge of industrial installations, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), equipment specification, procurement, and integration.
- Experience in industry standards, ASME, API, ASC, and NFPA.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, experience with data-driven software (e.g., intelligent P&IDs) preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Occasional overtime and travel may be required.
