Position Summary
The Manager, In-Flight Bases - Crew Absence Management is responsible for managing workforce scheduling and improve overall employee productivity and effectiveness. In addition, the Manager will provide guidance regarding employee policies, partner closely with HR, and counsel and discipline employees accordingly. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, In-Flight Bases - Crew Absence Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for receiving sick leave calls from Flight Attendants and Pilots, documenting leave requests in assigned systems as well as communicating such absences with crew scheduling
- Serve as resource for Flight Attendants and Pilots regarding sick leave policies and benefits
- Administer all versions of the Sick Leave Management Programs (SLMP) in the CBA including management of the doctor’s note compliance program
- Monitor pass travel adherence as it relates to sick leave, according to company policy
- Handle the OJI reporting including completing necessary paperwork in conjunction with the employee, investigate the circumstances of the OJI, and properly document the instances
- Partner with HR on FMLA requests, to obtain medical certificates, and on outside employment requests
- Partner with HR on initial intake of extended leave requests and follow up on return to work assignments and other complex leave situations
- Document occurrences to centralize tracking system and generate regular and ad hoc reports
- Investigate potential policy violations and take appropriate actions
- Provide counsel to employees and administer disciplinary actions accordingly
- Other duties as assigned or directed
Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent education
- 2 years of management or equivalent HR or In-Flight experience
- Working knowledge of federal and state leave employment laws and regulations
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Computer Skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Able to professionally handle multiple tasks and meet all deadlines
- Must be able to investigate incidents and discipline with dignity
- Must obtain a Passport, SIDA badge, and Ramp License
- Able to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends
- Able to build and maintain relationships with Flight Attendants at the highest professional level
