Manager, Global Travel and Risk
Capital One is seeking a results-oriented, experience-focused leader to serve as the Manager, Global Travel & Risk within the Travel and Expense (T&E) Team. The T&E Team manages the travel program for Capital One's global footprint to provide our travelers with the best possible experience. The team delivers a travel strategy that aligns with Capital One's organizational objectives, values, and behaviors and focuses on maximizing value, minimizing costs, and streamlining processes.
The Manager, Global Travel & Risk partners with the Director of T&E to set the strategy and help lead the travel team to deliver against all aspects of a well-managed corporate travel program including: travel policy, traveler experience, supplier management, process health reporting and insights, customized stakeholder processes, travel operations, and travel technologies.
General Responsibilities:

  • Drive Global Travel program initiatives focusing on strategy and company objectives to identify innovative ideas, technology, and best practices to improve operational excellence to drive traveler satisfaction and safety, policy compliance, cost reduction, and program efficiency.
  • Provide strategic vision to create and optimize servicing and processes for key internal stakeholder groups
  • Manage the relationship with Capital One's Travel Management Company (TMC) to lead the implementation of system, tools, and processes to build a 'best in class' travel program.
  • Partner with the TMC to monitor travel operations and manage agency performance through established Service Level Agreement (SLA's) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI's).
  • Partner with travel suppliers such as air carriers, hoteliers and ground transportation companies to build partnerships, and oversee processes and services provided. Conduct business reviews as needed to review contract compliance, savings opportunities, and traveler experience improvements.
  • Establish transparency for management oversight, allowing better visibility and management of costs from a pre-trip perspective. Participate in requested budget processes and ongoing re-forecasting for end to end travel costs and travel booking behaviors.
  • Serve as escalation for travelers and travel arrangers, to handle general inquiries; resolve issues; refer more complex inquiries to appropriate personnel, and maintain confidentiality in sensitive matters. Provide solutions to travel-related issues and follow-through during the complete traveler journey: pre-trip, during-trip, and post-trip.
  • Continually monitor, assess and refine travel policy to ensure continual alignment with company goals. Track compliance with travel policies and procedures and provide analysis and reports as needed.
  • Create communication and education strategy for travelers and travel arrangers to drive desired booking behaviors that bolster compliance and optimize cost savings.
  • Collaborate with the internal stakeholders to share relevant program updates or feedback and identify areas for improvement and/or enhancement.
  • Oversee and enhance global/regional preferred supplier relationships (air, hotel, rideshare etc.) by leading partner pricing and contract negotiations to ensure maximization of quality and value at competitive pricing.
  • Lead or participate in special projects such as supplier RFPs, stakeholder process customizations, travel tool implementations, etc.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of experience with business travel, travel risk management, expense reporting, or a combination
  • At least 2 years of Project Management experience
  • At least 1 year of Process Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 8 years of experience with business travel, travel risk management, and/or expense reporting, or a combination
