Position Summary
Will define digital strategy and oversee execution of web presence and other internet properties, including development and optimization of websites, internal and external application/platform development, content production, and social media to ensure maximum impact and return on investment for brand and business objectives.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develops the strategy, planning, budgeting and execution of digital strategy in support of overall organizational objectives through collaboration with the McKelvey Engineering marketing team.
  • Manages and evaluates all aspects of website to ensure consistency with WashU brand standards, including text, images, photography, video and other multimedia; develops and manages content in a way that is appropriate for online consumption by target audiences and that optimizes search engine visibility; ensures consistent look and feel by promoting uniform messaging, formatting, imagery and design; ensures editorial integrity for all online content. Manages all internal and external technical resources and vendors for web properties and monitors industry and interactive trends and incorporates new tools and strategies as appropriate.
  • Develops and maintains online standards guide.
  • Develops and manages social media and digital initiatives; creates and manages overall social media presence, including use of existing social tools and evaluation and strategic adoption of new tools. Works collaboratively with marketing leadership to execute email marketing strategy.
  • Measures and evaluates impact of all online efforts and makes recommendations based on research and analytics; develops systems to track and analyze metrics; communicates analytics, including trends, site features and best practices to the Director and marketing team.
  • Makes recommendations for site changes and developments, as well as new online efforts, based on analytics and organizational goals; drives growth in all traffic vehicles (both paid and unpaid) to meet the overall marketing goals.
  • Provides consultation and conducts training with faculty and staff to help with their online communications efforts and to ensure incorporation of best practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Understanding of current and emerging best practices.
  • Experience working with responsive design, mobile technology and search engine marketing; experience working with consultants on website development from research to launch.
  • Experience with audio video production equipment and other multimedia tools used to distribute content on-line.
  • Proficiency with Google Analytics.
  • Experience in developing content and editorial strategy and experience in managing and coordinating website reorganization and development.
  • Demonstrated ability to see the big picture and provide useful advice and ability to coordinate efforts among diverse customers.
  • High degree of creativity with a strong and proven track record in digital design and implementation.
  • Exceptionally strong analytical skills and proven capability to use data to drive business decisions and marketing optimization.
  • Experience managing social marketing channels.
  • Familiarity with managing and optimizing online marketing to differentiate between acquisition and retention activities, minimizing cost per customer acquired.
  • Previous experience in leading a team of technical Digital Marketing professionals.
  • Experience with managing budgets and having a proven record of demonstrating strong return on investment.
  • Ability to effectively create strong relationships with co-workers across functions and leverage both internal and external resources.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities, deadlines and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Creative problem solver.
  • Excellent written oral and presentation skills.
  • Collaborative and consultative work style and strong partnering skills.
  • Positive work ethic and enthusiastic.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a marketing discipline or other related area such as business, journalism, or digital communications; minimum of eight years of work experience in online marketing; background in health care a plus; advanced work experience and knowledge in a broad range of digital applications, web-based IT programs and digital media opportunities, as well as internet, intranet, and digital asset management systems

Salary Range
$52,000.00 - $88,800.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
