POSITION PURPOSE:
This position is to ensure efficient day-to-day operation of the dental clinic, while offering the highest quality in patient care and service. This position is necessary to assure the effective and efficient delivery of Dental Services. It requires a thorough knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; ability to type accurately at a fast rate; ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public and insurance providers; ability to secure cooperation and establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, staff, and the general public; ability to accept supervision and follow instructions; ability to perform duties with a minimum of supervision; ability to handle matters of a confidential nature, and provide support to the dental staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the dental clinic to ensure efficiency and delivery of quality patient services.
- Oversee dental support staff, supervising schedules and ensuring staff coverage for dental clinic
- Prepare and issue invoices.
- Submit insurance claims for dental procedures.
- Schedule dental patients for their appointments and be responsible for maintaining this schedule, calling to remind patients of their appointments and revising as needed to ensure the most efficient schedule for the dentist.
- Liaise with insurance providers to clarify/confirm patients’ coverage.
- Resolve disputes about rejected claims, preparing and submitting claims for payment by health insurance.
- Inform patients of any copayments or shortfalls in coverage by their health/dental insurances.
- Ascertain why claims have been rejected and implement corrective measures.
- Update patients’ personal and health insurance details, as needed, ensuring that patient information remains confidential.
- Communicate with staff, consumers, families, other agencies, and to the general public by telephone, in writing, and face-to-face.
- Enter data electronically into clinical recordkeeping and billing systems and record events involving consumers and patients of MLIH on a daily basis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalency, with 2 or more years in dental office/dental billing preferred.
