Shelter Services Manager

Full time- 40 hours per week

About:

The Shelter Services Manager works in our emergency shelter directly with residents and advocates. The primary role of this position is to ensure that trauma informed, client centered services are being offered at all levels. The Shelter Services Manager would work to ensure that equitable services are offered to all individuals and that client feedback is readily incorporated into services within the shelter.

Job Duties:

- Assist in hiring and training of new shelter advocates;

- Act as a resource for shelter case managers when working with resident cases;

- Developing innovative programming within shelter to help resident grow and feel empowered;

- Manage volunteers for the shelter programming, including supervising them when in the building and maintaining accurate and timely records;

- Serve as backup for emergency coverage in the event that shelter advocates, PRN, and on- call cannot cover a shift;

- Utilize innovating practices to help staff grow and develop to practice trauma-informed, housing first tenants in all aspects of job;

- Welcome new residents and orient them to facility;

- Attend out of town and local trainings virtually and in-person;

- Develop relationships with other service providers in the area;

- Create and implement best practice procedures within the shelter;

- Coordinate groups within shelter;

- Form relationships within the community to connect shelter residents with needed resources to be brought into shelter;

- Assist in maintaining a comfortable living environment within the shelter- this could include assisting in coordinating needed maintenance, cleaning common areas, assisting residents in organizing and cleaning their spaces, etc.

- Coordinate and facilitate anti-oppression related training with staff to ensure that service delivery is equitable and operating under an intersectionality understanding;

- Act as manager on-call during after hours times to respond to advocate questions/needs as part of a rotating schedule;

- Other duties as assigned.

Ability to meet the needs of the program which requires:

- Ability to drive / sit for extended durations;

- Must have access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license with a good driving record;

- Flexibility of schedule during non-traditional working hours which may include evenings / weekends and the ability to serve as resource to staff regularly on-call;

- The ability to lift, push, pull or move presentation equipment, supplies, etc. in excess of 50 pounds with or without the use of adaptive/assistive devices;

- Sight, hearing and manual dexterity to function with or without prosthetics use that will enable these senses to function adequately to fulfill the requirements of the job;

- The ability to negotiate level and unlevel surfaces with or without the use of assistive devices;

- Concentrated mental and or visual activity is required for gathering information and handling clients, verbal communication skills, reading, and writing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 per year
