Manages the administration of an organization's database. Analyzes the organization's database needs and develops a long-term strategy for data storage, scalability, and optimal performance. Establishes policies and procedures related to data security and integrity. Monitors and limits database access as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee the protection, quality, and data integrity of enterprise databases
- Maintain a strong understanding of evolving on premise and cloud-based data solutions to assess value to business strategy
- Hire, supervise and mentor database development teams
- Identify key performance metrics and implement database event monitoring to integrate with corporate monitoring systems
- Capture performance data for management reporting, capacity planning, utilization forecasts and project planning
- Lead and provide ongoing administration, maintenance and problem resolution of the database infrastructure and related replication technologies
- Oversee and assist in database disaster recovery planning and data verification tests for both on premise and cloud-based data stores
- Perform database maintenance, migration, and upgrades to on premise database technologies
- Interface with IT Enterprise Architecture to ensure a scalable shared database architecture on new projects and enhancements to existing database solutions
- Comply with Application Delivery Manager processes defined by the Project Management Office (PMO)
- Oversee and assist with change management software administration, maintenance, problem resolution and architectural implementation
Job Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience:
- 5+ years of related experience with Oracle database
- 5+ years of related experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Advanced analytical, leadership and problem-solving skills
- Ability to comprehend and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
- Ability to work both independently and collaborate with team when necessary
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
