ABOUT THE POSITION
Foursquare is looking for a Manager, Data Science to join our User Data Science team located in or near one of our office hubs - New York City, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco.
You’ll be responsible for leading innovative efforts to build and evolve the next generation of our Movements engine, data normalization, and integrated user modeling solutions. You would leverage cutting-edge machine learning, causal inference, and forecasting technologies to reshape our solutions and to help our clients optimize their analytical strategies and drive higher efficiency. This role is foundational to our Insights and Attribution products, which are the largest revenue drivers at Foursquare.
The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate, experience leading and coaching junior and senior data scientists, strong domain expertise with strong knowledge of ML, forecasting and causal inference, the ability to work effectively across multiple internal stakeholders in product, engineering and sales and with external clients and vendors, and the ability to communicate deeply technical details in an understandable and consumable way to non-technical partners in order to achieve the best outcome for Foursquare and its customers.

Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow a high performing team with both junior and senior data scientists to deliver business impact on time and with quality
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to ensure that model development and quality measurements are informed by customer requirements
- Coach the team to leverage data sources at scale (dozens of different data sources, billions of rows), machine learning, observational causal inference, time series forecasting and bias corrections, to design, prototype, implement, evaluate and monitor the next generation of our Movements engine and normalization methodology
- Drive projects across multiple products and areas, provide thought leadership to the team both strategically and technically, drive a roadmap and provide mentorship efficiently, drive the Data Science culture such as experimentation
- Comfortable coaching the team to dive deep for descriptive analyses to generate insights from our data and to design and analyze experiments to measure the effectiveness of our solutions
- Think proactively and strategically about opportunities to improve and scale our user modeling solutions
