Position Overview

Novelis is seeking a Manager, Data Science & Insights - Plant of the Future to join our Global Corporate team at our headquarters in the Atlanta, GA!

The Manager will report to the Director of Data Science & Insights and lead a specialized team of highly skilled technical people. This role will focus on a multi-year companywide initiative called “Plant of the Future” (POTF); leading and advancing the POTF initiative by leveraging various Industry 4.0 / factory of the Future technologies on the manufacturing floor, including (but not limited to) Machine Learning Operations, Computer Vision, and Advanced Predictive Maintenance.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in shaping the direction of thePlant of the Future initiatives and delivering ROI through the implementation of IoT Digital technology. This is a technical management role with high visibility and will require a rare combination of technical knowhow and executive presence.

Responsibilities:

• Hire and build a team of specialized skills such as Machine Learning, Computer Vision, MLOps and UI/UX
• In conjunction with various cross-functional stakeholders, lead the team to implement various Digital use cases across various plants of Novelis with a goal of a step function change to Novelis’s mfg. operations
• Manage project deliverables, timelines and budgets and provide regular status updates to senior leadership
• Provide guidance and mentorship to the team members and foster a culture of continuous learning and development
• Develop and maintain relationship with key stakeholders, including senior executives, business leaders, and external partners
• Facilitate and manage change in an industrial setting leveraging Industry 4.0 technology
• The role requires 25-35% travel within the US international locations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or a related field
• At least 8 years of experience in applied Data Science with a 4-5 years of leadership experience with increasing responsibilities
• Strong track record in leading a cross functional team in large-scale enterprise-wide initiatives
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
• Hands-on experience in managing deliverables, timelines and budget in a fast-paced dynamic environment
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making
• Knowledge of Python, Microsoft Azure and Scikit-learn and PyTorch

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA / Master’s Degree in in Computer Science, Data Science or a related field
• Experience in deploying Digital artifacts in a manufacturing setting
• Understanding of operational technology (OT) architectures and Industry 4.0
