Manager & Counsel – Card Member Benefits & Global Dining

The U.S. Consumer Services team of the General Counsel’s Organization (GCO) is seeking a Manager & Counsel to support the Premium Card Member Benefits & Global Dining teams. The position will work closely with business partners, legal professionals in the GCO, as well as stakeholders across the enterprise, to provide support on legal issues of varying complexity.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Provide legal advice and strategic support to business clients responsible for Premium Card Member Benefits and Global Dining (including Resy) on a wide range of matters, including business development initiatives, strategic negotiations, new product development, issue resolution, customer marketing and customer communications.

  • Support contract drafting and negotiations for a broad range of agreements, with varying complexity. Examples include commercial contracts with restaurants, vendor agreements, supplier agreements, sponsorship agreements, partnership agreements for technology integrations, talent, and event agreements.

  • Partner with Global Dining marketing organization to enhance engagement and approval processes, and to review and approve marketing materials, terms, and other disclosures.

  • Partner with Line of Business Compliance, Privacy, Information Security, Global Marketing and Operational Excellence teams to drive business results.

  • Participate as part of a team of seasoned attorneys and legal managers providing support for ad-hoc special projects underpinning American Express’s broader US benefit and loyalty strategy.

  • Collaborate across the General Counsel’s Organization to facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and J.D.

  • Admission to practice law in the New York in good standing.

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High-energy, self-starter with strong written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple workstreams simultaneously, take on new responsibilities and prioritize work in a dynamic, deadline intensive environment.

  • Must work well in cross-functional team settings and have a keen eye for initiating and driving end to end process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.

  • Proven ability to act as a trusted advisor to business teams.

  • Experience in marketing and/or technology transactions.

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
