Job description

Plans, organizes, directs, controls and manages daily operations of the Clinical Documentation Improvement Program, including quality, productivity and performance improvement activities. Responsible for Clinical Documentation Improvement training and education programs for staff and providers. Collaborates with other Cllinical Revenue Cycle Directors and Managers on development of quality, education and performance improvement programs.

ACCOUNTABILITIES Accountabilities % of time 1. Manages the daily operations of the Clinical Documentation Improvement Program. Responsible for staff management, strategic planning and process improvement activities.

25 2. Hires and supervises Clinical Documentation Improvement personnel, conducts performance evaluations, counsel employees in performance improvement, conflict resolution, disciplinary action, and coordination of resources for adequate coverage. 20 3.

Develops and deploys functional Clinical Documentation Improvement policies and procedures to ensure standardization, compliance and other metrics are achieved. 15 4. Establishes and achieves functional outcomes for Key Performance Indicators, including case mix index, revenue enhancement, and severity of illness and risk of mortality.

10 5. Develops and deploys Clinical Documentation Improvement training and education programs for all providers and staff throughout the organization. Ensures professional development plans are in place for Clinical Documentation Improvement staff and updated on a regular basis.

5 6. Collaborates with other Clinical Revenue Cycle Directors and Managers to effectively manage operations and achieve annual goals. Serves as a liaison with medical staff, clinical staff, billing, appeals and compliance and develops effective relationships to ensure program effectiveness.

5 7. Establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with all internal and external customers. 5 8.

Administers software systems and tools utilized by the team and serves as functional project manager for all system upgrades. 2.5 9. Adheres to ProMedica's System and Clinical Revenue Cycle department policies and procedures related to this position 2.5 10.

Attend/complete all assigned training to develop relevant knowledge and skills related to their job for continued educational growth and experience. 2.5 11. Attend and participate in required meetings.

2.5 12. Demonstrates self-direction and ability to work independently. 2.5 13.

Performs other related duties as assigned. 2.5 14. Follows the System confidentiality and security policies at all times.

Location: RemoteEducation: Bachelor's degree in health information management or equivalent through experience. Skills: Acute care inpatient coding and Clinical Documentation Improvement proficiency; strong clinical knowledge; knowledge of Revenue Cycle, reimbursement systems and regulatory, legal and compliance standards; effective communication and presentation skills. Years of Experience: 3-5 years of management experience Applicants must live within 100 miles of Toledo, OH 43604 Certification: RHIA, RHIT or RN Salary Range: $47,840-$126,880 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: BSN Skills: Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, coding, Clinical Documentation Improvement, reimbursement and EHR Systems.

Years of Experience: 5-8 years of management experience License: N/A Certification: CCS, CDIP, CCDS WORKING CONDITIONS Personal Protective Equipment: N/A Physical Demands: Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations; and prolonged periods of standing. Must be able to work remotely and prolonged periods of sitting. Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries; requires excellent interpersonal skills.
