EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
As a member of the inventory management team, this role involves assisting in the management of assigned material inventory programs and systems. The focus is on developing and recommending inventory practices to enhance operational decision-making and improve inventory controls. Additionally, this position involves preparing reports on material usage, purchasing activity, and costs, as well as analyzing system data to generate trend reports on inventory status. The responsibilities also include managing and maintaining master data in SAP Plant Maintenance for Highway and Highway-related Materials Inventory. This involves reviewing and analyzing departmental data on inventory levels and usage to optimize inventory quantities and encourage just-in-time delivery of materials for cost avoidance and budget effectiveness.This role also plays a part in the planning, development, and implementation of the Statewide Maintenance Accreditation Performance Index (MAPI), an inventory control metric. Monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports are issued to field organizations, including Assistant District Executives for Maintenance, to track their progress in meeting inventory control goals. Additionally, statewide reports are developed to provide analytical tools and information to support managerial decisions and actions. The position also involves participating in the Engineering District PennDOT Inventory Management Quality Assurance Review (PIMQAR) on-site. This includes reviewing and evaluating inventory programs to assess the extent to which goals and objectives are being met. Furthermore, coaching and training organizations on how to effectively utilize existing inventory management reports, implement best practices, and identify improvement opportunities is part of the role. Periodic follow-ups are conducted to assess progress and provide assistance with improvements.Interested in learning more?
