Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Lead Technologist, the primary responsibilities of the Mammography Technologist are to operate the Mammography equipment, perform specified exams, produce high quality images and support equipment to ensure proper function. The Mammography technologist is expected to provide excellent customer service, and participate in all support office duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understands and employs necessary radiation safety precautions.
- Ensures necessary patient and exam information/scripts/paperwork are in order prior to beginning exam.
- Provides clear and thorough explanation of procedures to patients.
- Evaluates Mammography images for completeness and technical quality.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Notifies patients of recall suggestions and assists in scheduling.
- Maintains quality assurance in accordance with ACR/MQSA on a daily basis and completes quality assurance reports.
- Assists Lead Mammographer with ACR and MQSA accreditations.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of employed information systems.
- Demonstrates enthusiastic commitment to providing excellent customer service.
Performs other related duties as directed.

- Technical Excellence: Demonstrates intricate knowledge of and ability to perform all Mammography studies performed at the center. Produces quality images as determined by the Radiologist.
- Service Excellence: The Mammography Technologist is the professional face of the center for patients undergoing Mammography exams and their families and as such, will demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and customer service when greeting and speaking with clients. Communicates in a way that conveys sympathy and respect to a diverse patient and work population. Takes ownership for determining a customer’s needs and offering ways to help.

Education/Experience:
- Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
- 12 months previous experience in diagnostic radiology or other imaging modality.
Certificates and Licenses:
- ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology
- ARRT certification in Mammography or successfully completion of certification within 12 months of hire.
- BLS certification.
