Oregon Rebate (IP 2024-17) is a dynamic, people-powered ballot initiative campaign collecting signatures to qualify for the November 2024 ballot. This initiative will increase the minimum corporate tax rate after $25 million of in-state revenue by 3% (currently, it is less than 1%), and then rebate the new revenue to every Oregonian (about $750 per person/year). We estimate that the Oregon Rebate will reduce overall poverty by about 15%, child poverty by about 26%, and poverty in the Hispanic/Latinx community by about 28%.
We are seeking motivated people passionate about social and economic justice to collect signatures for the initiative!
We are hiring immediately, all positions run through June with the possibility of extension. Since this is a state-wide ballot initiative, this work can be done anywhere in Oregon and you set your own hours!
Compensation: The pay for these Independent Contractor positions ranges from $22/hr to $88/hr, and most people earn $44/hr. Our minimum quota is 10 signatures per hour.
Petitioner Responsibilities
- Identify and attend appropriate signature-gathering events
- Engage with the public in a friendly and professional manner
- Obtain and return signatures of active, registered Oregon voters for Petition ID 2024-17
- Collect a minimum of 10 valid signatures an hour
- Maintain a signature validity rate not less than 80%
- Perform other services, upon mutual agreement of the parties, like training unpaid volunteers in circulating
The ideal candidate
- Has experience in signature gathering, service industry, sales, or other public-facing roles
- Passionate about social justice and fostering democracy
- Strong communication skills, unafraid to approach people and make an ask
- Able to exercise cultural competency in all interactions
- Self-motivated and strong sense of personal accountability
Though helpful, no prior circulator experience required
