Maintenance Technician
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Purpose of the job:
To assist the Maintenance Manager to maintain and repair the food process machinery to ensure an effective and efficient daily operation.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Performing diagnostics, maintenance, repair, setup, start-up and troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controller Machinery including but not limited to: carton packer machines, cup fillers machines, extruders machines, flow-wrappers machines, metal detector machines, palletizer machines, and vacuum packing machines
- Performing diagnostics, maintenance, repair, setup, start-up, and troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controller Equipment including but not limited to: agitators, blenders, and dosing pumps
- Performing routine inspections/ maintenance on Nanak Foods operated buildings to ensure effective, efficient, and safe operations
- Assisting with preventive/ regular maintenance on manufacturing equipment/ machinery
- Operating and maintaining high/ low-pressure boilers, hot water system, and water treatment plant
- Identifying potential concerns and problems on machinery owned by Nanak Foods
- Communicating and reporting to manager about potential concerns/ problems
- Performing documentation duties
- Responding to calls and addressing the problems adequately
- Performing electrical and mechanical work as requested/required

- Additional Duties as assigned/ required that are relevant to the “Essential Functions and Responsibilities” of the job
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Mechanical Engineering from an accredited educational institution is preferred
- 2 years of experience working in a food manufacturing plant is preferred
- Knowledge of maintenance and troubleshooting of packaging machinery
- Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller machinery / processes
- Knowledge of Ammonia refrigeration and other refrigeration systems
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, Total Production Maintenance, and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
- Basic knowledge of aseptic and clean room requirements
- Moderate knowledge of Microsoft office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to maintain/ repair electrical and instrumentation systems
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand mechanical blueprints

Physical Demand:

Working Conditions:
The employee works in the food production factory and is exposed to an environment consisting of: chemicals, electrical/ mechanical power: equipment/tools, elevated levels, fluctuating hot/ cold temperatures, grease/ oils, hot/ cold: objects/surfaces/substances, humid environment, loud noise level and outside weather. The employee is also required to work flexible hours, which includes some evening, weekends, overtime and statutory holidays.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
