Description
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Technician performs routine and assigned maintenance duties of the operational building systems, offices, classrooms, building perimeter and parking lot at Imagine Children's Museum.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
Perform operational maintenance tasks in non-exhibit/themed environment spaces. These areas include but may not be limited to offices, classrooms, and other work areas.

  • Painting tasks that include but are not limited to painting walls, patching, and painting drywall.
  • Minor carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tasks. These tasks may include but are not limited to:
  • Identifying and repairing leaks, repairing, and replacing faucets and fixtures
  • Changing lighting and ballasts
  • Repairing or replacing electrical components, repairing, or replacing low-voltage security devices and batteries
  • Installing and repairing office equipment, furniture, and fixtures
  • Repairing displays or and repairing walls
  • Maintaining doors, windows, and locksets.
  • Performs maintenance activities associated with the museum's building perimeter and lots, including removing waste, trash, snow, and ice.
  • Works with the Operations Manager to ensure preventative operational facility maintenance is being done.
  • Help ensure safety policies are being followed and up to date.
  • Conducts regular inspections and tests on building systems to determine repair and maintenance needs; reports results to the Operations Manager before taking action.
  • Prioritizes repairs independently and in collaboration with the Operations Manager, choosing the safest and most effective repair methods.
  • Maintain safe and organized shared spaces, including workspaces and storage areas.
  • Maintain operations maintenance documents and log work completed; communicate project progress with the Operations Manager and other team members as needed.

Ensure the operational cleanliness of the Museum in non-exhibit/themed environment spaces:
  • Performs scheduled daily, weekly, and occasional cleaning tasks following Imagine's standards. These tasks may include but are not limited to sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, washing surfaces/windows/walls, dusting, cleaning/sanitizing, stocking restrooms and trash/recycling removal.
  • Monitors operational cleaning supply and submits weekly orders to the Operations Manager

Other:
  • Assists with transportation and storage of items to/from the annex.
  • Actively participates in set up and tear down of events.
  • When assigned and available, assists with coverage on the floor to support the overall operations team.

Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma/ GED Equivalent
Previous experience with maintenance highly desired

  • Ability to lift and or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time, climb ladders and stairs.
  • Independent body mobility to access a standard office environment with shelves and drawers of varying heights.
  • Vision sufficient to read a computer screen, 12 point and finer printed text, and handwritten documents.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard on a daily basis.
  • Speak and hear sufficiently to communicate clearly in person, over the telephone, and in small groups.
  • Mental stamina for problem solving and dealing with stressful situations; prioritizing multiple tasks; interpreting and applying oral/written instructions.
  • Ability to bend, carry, reach to the side, front and overhead, push, pull, walk, stand, twist and squat, grab, squeeze are repetitive motions required of the position.
  • Occasionally exposed to outdoor elements including high and low temperatures, precipitation, and wind.
  • Occasionally exposed to moderate noise in and around exhibits.
  • Occasionally exposed to small and/or enclosed spaces.
