Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to: mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and adjust parts.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
- Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Detect faulty operations, defective materials, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervisor.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Must have minimum of three years verifiable experience in industrial maintenance as a mechanic / electrician, preferably in a food processing environment including treatment of waste water.
- Must have experience working with AC, DC, high voltage and low voltage applications.
- Must have experience working with variable speed drives.
- Must have a working knowledge of mechanical gear dives and pulley systems.
- Must have knowledge of shop electrical test equipment; i.e. VOM, AMPROBE, etc.
- Must have basic carpentry & plumbing skills.
- Can successfully pass hands-on evaluation on welding, electrical and plumbing skills.
- Past experience with PLC and instrumentation is a plus.
- Past experience working with proximity switches, level controls and temperature controls is a plus.
- Past experience with various phone, audio-visual, and security systems a plus.
- Must be able to perform basic mathematical functions.
- Must be able to communicate with both production and quality personnel at a level that allows a complete handoff and coordinated effort that ensures post maintained equipment is sanitized and a preoperational check is completed before equipment is placed back into service.
- Must be able to work with very little supervision.
- Must be able to work with the parts room attendant to assure parts required for jobs assignments are in stock.
- Has an excellent work and attendance record.
- Must present a good attitude to coworkers and management. Must be willing to perform whatever duties are necessary to ensure a safe and quality product is produced.
- Requires initiative and self-motivation.
- Must work well with maintenance and production departments.
- Must have the ability to think logically and draw natural conclusions.
- Must have the ability to make correct decisions at the appropriate time.
- Must have the ability to learn all the functions and processes of the facility.
- Is supportive of company objectives, policies and procedures.
- Must have the ability to adapt to changing situations.
- Has the ability to follow directions as well as give directions.
- Is willing to learn any and all operations of maintenance not currently familiar with.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be willing to work a twelve hour fifteen-minute shift, weekends, nights and overtime on a 3-2-2-3 schedule.
- Must be able to work effectively in both warm and cold environments.
