Job Description
Overview:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Technician serves as a support to all production functions at Agcor. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the facilities, relieving operators and plugging in to any department role as needed to meet customer requirements, both internal and external, while also maintaining and enhancing safety, quality, and process improvement objectives.
Essential Functions:
- Promote and drive safety-first culture, ensuring the safety of employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Know and follow safety and emergency procedures as needed.
- Aid in the production of Agcor products, in both direct and indirect capacities (operating production assets, loading/unloading raw materials and finished products, shipping/receiving, performing asset maintenance, etc.).
- Act as a relief or coverage operator as necessary.
- Champion and maintain overall facility cleanliness: assist in the removal of facility waste/scrap, develop and implement departmental sanitation plan, and audit/monitor for sanitation plan compliance.
- Working closely with Production Lead, serve as a resource in the facilitation of daily production.
- Provide support in meeting and/or exceeding all plant goals such as safety, quality, scrap prevention, and operational excellence.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
- Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
- Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
Required attributes
- 2-5 years manufacturing and forklift experience
- Effective time management and verbal/written communication skills
- Ability to act/work independently and balance conflicting priorities
- Ability to learn to operate all production assets within the Metal Roofing Division
- Willingness and flexibility to work longer shift hours
- Computer literacy
